Last class, we began talking about 'political correctness', rules for what can and cannot be publically expressed. The idea is that certain groups have a right not to be offended. As well there is the idea that the majority group in society must never offend a minority. So, on the presumption that Christianity is the majority religion, PC says that saying "Merry Christmas" makes Jews, Buddists, Muslims, Hindus, atheists etc. feel excluded from society, therefore it is 'offensive'. Ironically, every minority group is encouraged to express its religious customs. PC applies to sex, race, and many other topics as we'll see. So, with that, I'm going to categorize topics we've looked at so far in terms of PC and UN PC views. Note where the liberal msm fits in.
